Do we have the courage to stop this? By Nicholas D. Kristof, a lot of kids die from gun every year. Why can't they take guns as serious as cars.
In the article it say children ages 4 to 14 in America are 13 times as likely to be murdered with gun as children in other industrialized counties. In the article it also states that people of the world don't regulate guns as seriously as they do cars, and that the predominant reason kids are dying in massacres like this.
In the article Kristof said,"I understand shooting is fun! But so is driving, and we accept that we must wear seat belts, use headlights at night, and fill out forms to buy a car. Why can't we be equally adult about regulating guns.
I think this topic is just what we need to fix deaths in the city, state and country. They need to do more background checks on people wanting to by guns and asking what they need it for it should be a policy.
The main quote that stood out to me was when Nicholas D. Kristof said, "as on of my facebook followers wrote after i posted about the shooting it's is more difficult to adopt a pet than it is to buy a gun." I can agree with that statement because when my mom when to adopt a dog they wanted to see if she would treat the animal wrong and is she going be good to it basically like checking her background.
This never happened to me nor in my life I just heard about it on the new but I know people how have guns; and i wonder if they actually had to go through a process to get them. To sum everything up we need equal right on gun as we have on cars.

Weed Heads
Marijuana law just creates criminals by Hakeem Jeffries. It's about how unfairly the people get arrested for having marijuana.
Each year hundreds of thousands of people are arrested for smoking or having marijuana on them. In New York it's a policy called stop and frisk, they stop you and check you without any warnings. Often police officer ride around and approach young people and instruct them to empty their pockets, a lot of people are arrested and charged with misdemeanor possession.
New York is preparing to take steps to solve this problem. It's only because high political office have frequently admitted to smoking marijuana when they were younger. We didn't unmercifully penalized them. So we should stop criminalizing hundred of thousands of our young people for doing the samething.
Personally, I know a lot of people that smoke marijuana and don't care if the police catch them or not, they love when their high. They say it feels good and just let you leave your worries at home, try it. I say no marijuana slows you down and kills your brain cells, and you won't be able to get a job if you smoke marijuana.
I would like to ask the cop's that be arresting people for marijuana some questions.
If that person you seen smoke marijuana was your son or daughter what would you do?
Have you ever smoked marijuana?
Did you ever think about smoking marijuana?
I wouldn't like if they take marijuana away because some people need marijuana to stay cool without that they might go off and shoot at anybody or anything, and that's putting the young kids and adult in danger of getting killed but someone who want's drugs!

7 and 11 years old goin badd
Boys, 7 and 11, Attempt Carjacking by COLLEEN CURRY . This story is about a 7 and 11 years old boy trying to carjack and rob young lady with a cocked and loaded 22 handgun.
Police said that the two boys had a cocked and loaded .22 handgun that
they brandished while telling Amy Garrett, 22, to give up her money and
truck. Garrett said she was waiting for her parents at the freedom foursquare and she was approach by some kid telling her to give the truck up or die, she said they didn't even look like they were big enough to drive.
Garrett said, "She didn't even think the gun was real, the youngest one said shows her the piece and the 11 year old one pulled up his shirt to show it off." Garrett said, she was scared when he asked her was she ready to go and she hop in her car and called 911. Soon the cops arrived at the scene and the kids tried to run but the cop grabbed the 11 and 7 years old boy, they wasn't arrested do to their age but the police will report the incident to juvenile court.
I personally think that them kids should be arrested, that's attempted murder and if it was a teenager or adult they would of been send away, them kids knew better and they knew what they was doing. They had a loaded gun and demanded to take the truck.
I want to know why the kids have a gun? I want to know what the parents of the kids do to them? I really can't compare this to a point in my life, because I wouldn't never try to rob nor carjack somebody. You would never caught my with a gun! Clearly, I told you about this unfair article.

driving while 16
In should 16 years-old drive by Ted Greory. I state that people often think 16 years old don't need to drive because it saves lives and theirs too.
In the story they question should 16 years old drive. In the story it said, "is 16 the right age to get a driver license?" The insurance institute has pressed the question for years. The Hinsdale Central High-school sophomore said, "I don't think it matter what age you are", and also said,"as long as you have the practice and experience." They tried to improve this by doubling the number of adult-supervised hours required behind the wheel. Ryan Moore, 16 of schaumburg got his driver license in June. Moore said, " I think it would be better to wait, but I need his license as soon as possible." Moore also said, " I've driven with people who haven't been driving very long but are pretty good, some people are ready some aren't."
I honestly think that if you drive at 16 or 17 years old, you should be ready because if your not it's possible you can die or get in a pretty bad car accident. And a lot of people die from car crashes, motor vehicle crashes kill more than 5,000 teenagers every year.
This article makes me think, I don't want to take my permett until I'm ready. I want to pass on the first, my mom told me she fail on her first time but pass on her second and now she a good driver, and never been in an accident ever !!!

Stealing Never Good !
http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/headlines/2012/11/father-son-and-daughter-arrested-in-bank-robberies/
In Father-son-and-daughter-arrested-in-bank-robberies by Alyssa Newcomb. Ronald Scott Catt, Hayden Catt, and Abby Catt were arrested for robbing several banks through Texas.
Ronald and Hayden Catt was seen buying disguises at Home Depot In the article it said, "authorities were able to track down the distinctive orange vests the men wore to a local Home Depot. A review of the surveillance tape showed the family purchasing the disguises at the store." The Catt family is on charges and Ronald and Hayden bong is set to 140,000 while Abby's is set to 100,000. Eric Lundeen told ABC News he knows the Catt family and said they seemed like "really solid community members" and also said, "He was a single dad. I think he lost his wife and he had the responsibility to take care of his kids and I got to tell you, he was there for them,"
I personally think that it's crazy because I would rob nothing, even if I only had a dollar to my name. In the article it said, Abby post on her Facebook that I'm so glad I got the job I wanted now I'm going be making big money.
I remember a time when my brother didn't have enough to get the shoes he wanted so he begged my father for more, My dad didn't give him nothing so he told me to go to the back and he walk out. I ran after him and he start running when were at least a block away from the store he came out and said I got these sneak for free I said how he said I know people. I look back and said yea right you took them. Ever since that day I never went shopping or to the corner store with him again.

Election
In Yay! Boo! So! Reactions to Obama
win vary, by Peter Mucha. The main idea of this news article was to tell the
readers what's everyone reaction to Obama winning four more years in the white
house.
There was many quotes giving and stated in the passage. “I’m a bit disappointed. I wasn't really happy with either Candidate," 49 Marty Brenna said. One Man said "Obama apparently just ran a better campaign, mobilizing high voter turnout, he said. One lady was thrilled to death she said "I would of never voted for Romney on woman's issues alone. “Len Burkhardt 53, computer architect from Haddon Heights said, " I think the storm put him over the edge," He also said," We need a businessman like Romney in the White House, because Obama is not as fiscally smart or fiscally responsible.
“I think these people have a right to say what they want and if they wanted Romney to win too bad, he lost and also I would of voted for Obama If i was old enough not just because he's black or Romney white I think Obama can change this world around but he can't do it alone. I think people made some bad comments about both presidents.
I remember the time when my dad was dropping me and my brother off at school , and he stop and asked us who was we voting for , even though he knew we couldn't. This was when Obama was going against McClain and I said Obama and so did my brother But I knew why I wanted him to win my brother didn't really care. My dad said why . My brother was stuck and I said, "I believe he can make a big difference not because he's black but because everyone told him he couldn't."

Respect For Climate
Will climate change get some respect now? By Nicholas D. Kristof. The climate nowadays is terrible, it's worst than ever. Hurricanes, floods, heat waves, and droughts. Everyone fails to discuss it but hurricane Sandy forces them to.
In the passage it also states,"Climax change add more moisture to the atmosphere, which may mean that some storms come with more rain and flooding". A lot of details saying the climax is messed up and everyone need to help fix it or there will be more floods , droughts and hurricanes. In the story William Solecki, the co-chairmen of the New York City Panel on climax change said, "In that sense, whatever its causes, Sandy offers a window into the way ahead". This really stands out to me because it makes me think what is the world coming to? and also scares me.
I think this topic is important for everyone to read , but personally I don't like hearing about things like this, It get my goose bumps. I don't know why I just think it's better for me not to know but since i do know i can start but helping Global Waring .
In conclusion, the earth is going to be in trouble if we don't stop polluting the air and throwing waste in the ocean. This article really makes me think deeply about what I throw on the ground and what I do to help or harm the earth. If everyone joins together to stop Global Waring then the earth can be saved and safe.

Attention Disoder or Not, Pills to help in school
Attention disorder or not, pills to help you in school. By Alan Schwarz is really explaining that, the parents and doctors that's support A.D.H.D is given pills to children that need's them or not. They give them these pills to kids in elementary and high school. Doctors and parents think it helps their child education level increase and it would be easier and more better for them to do work in class , or home and participate in class decisions.
The author included a lot of quotes from doctors and parents also students. Dr. Anderson have given these pills to her kids and she said '' My kids don't want to take it, but I told them, 'These are your grades when your taking it, this is when you don't', and they understood'', It's not really that surprising that a parent want better grade from their child but i think that's all she care for and not worrying for there safety.
I think there is seriously something wrong with these doctors and parents. I believe that you should check the drug first and make sure it is safe your your kid to take. The side effects of the pills young kids are taken is, growth suppression, increase blood pressure and, in rare case, psychotic episodes. I took this quote from the text and it state the harmful side effects of these pills, doctor and parent are taken.
This story kind of reminds me of a movie I watched. I forget what it is called. The movie is about four gentlemen have a bad disease called scalelyois and the government was treating these boys with a drug that the men didn't know about. They just wanted to get cured, but the government knew exactly what they was doing and didn't tell nobody but the doctors the side effect of the drug. Soon the boys died of scalelyois.I think these two story are similar in some ways. I want everyone to know the side effects of the drug their taken or might be always ask your doctor.

No Memorial 2012
No Memorial Day 2012 by Sylvia Mohr in Memorial Day has been ignored by too many of us who are beneficiaries of those who have given the ultimate sacrifice. Often we do not observe the day as it should be, a day where we actively remember our ancestors, our family members, our loved ones, our neighbors, and our friends who have given the ultimate sacrifice.
You can appreciate memorial day by visiting cemeteries and placing flags or flowers on the graves of our fallen heroes, visiting memorials, by flying the U.S. Flag at half-staff until noon, by renewing a pledge to aid the widows, widowers, and orphans of our falled dead, and to aid the disabled veterans. Also I shows that you have respect for you hero and soldiers today.
I think the topic is important for everyone to read and show respect and honor for your ancestors. People don't really know how good they got it because we had people that fought for our rights and our freedom. without Martin Luther King we probably still be getting miss-treated, if it wasn't for Abraham Lincoln , Us black people would still be slave. I really am thankful for all my hero's gave up for me. And if I was to met one it would make my day.
I can relate this article to myself because I'm really into history I remember me telling my sister a story about Rosa Parks and I told her how she refuse to move from the front of the bus because she was tired plus sick of being miss-treated , and Rosa Parks got arrested and sent to jail that when Martin Luther King Jr started the boycott. The article really made me think deeply about my ancestors and my choices.
1.Do you support moving the observance of Memorial Day to May 30th? Explain your answer
2. This year will you take part in any of the activities do to Memorial? Explain your answer

Texting Away
In the story ''Texting May Be Taking a Toll'', by Katie Hefner. The passage Tell's readers that texting is not all that good for you. The author want's everyone to read this and get a clue that text can be bad. In the story the author lets us know that texting can damage your thumbs. The author says'' texting might be causing a toll in teenagers thumbs''Anni Wagner, said she notice a painful cramping in her thumbs. The author also wants you to know that teenagers text the most out of everybody , when it's time to go to bed their our teens up at after midnight texting making their bill high out the roof top. Teenagers put they phone on vibrate and wait til the bright screen lights up white and the retort back to the text. This is making them text 3,500 an week and 14,528 an month. Parent our getting out rage when they see their child bill. But parent do it their self and kids follow. In the story the author states that when a child come out of ballet lessons their upset to see their dad/mom on their blackberry texting away and not paying any attention to them. I kinda agree but on the other hand I don't , I think everything the author states is true, because student to tend to spend more time texting/talking on the phone then studying / doing homework. I can draw this story towards me because I'm like that and I text a whole lot.

Studies Find More Students Cheating, With Higher Achievers No Exception. By Richard Perez. Large-scale of cheating was discovered at the nation's most competitive school. Cheating has become easier and more widely tolerated, do to the fact that teachers, school or parents haven't been tell their kids strong repetitive messages about what is allowed . And do to the internet and copy and paste kids our better to get answers from website or other pairs. Students cheat to survive. Students now our under a lot of pressure do to parents telling to be they best and get straight A's. Also when teachers say you got to go to collage to get a high paying job and to order to do that you have to pass high-school student that think they going to fail they cheat off the more advance students. One thing that stood out to me is when the article state's that some parent our actually doing their child's homework for them. This shocked me the most because parent often say you go to school to learn not to play or have somebody else do your work meaning (CHEATING) , but the whole time they doing the work and the child is not learning anything. Me as a student I saw cheaters cheat but never came to my mine that it would of been a big issues I think this article is basically telling people that not just people with low test scores cheat ,parents, teacher, and students cheat. I remember when I came across the cheater but I wasn't worried bout it cause at the end of the day he got an 54% and i got a 89% witch is basically a low A. Cheater never prosper.
